Reporter [Maui press conference]: After more than a week, public frustration has grown to a point where there's been a breakdown and loss of trust. There's been early missteps, some failures…now much of the operation is being conducted out of the public eye…people are wondering whether body counts are true…[if] officials are withholding information and aren't being forthcoming. How do you make sure that people believe what you're saying and regain the public's trust?
Hawaii Governor [angrily]: Doing reporting through social media is idiotic…The public trust comes from us coming here every forty-eight hours to be with you.
Official: When you are called upon and your question is asked, I am going to insist, not request anymore, that you please allow the answer to be given…I'm just asking for kindness…right now we're cutting people off.
[all of these officials are incredibly defensive during their press conferences]
