Anon made the switch to metal roof several years ago and count it as one of the VERY best decisions I've made. Wound up being way cheaper than shingles and me and a friend did the work in about 3 or 4 days. No leaks, fire resistant, reflective (galvalume), Trees don't tear it (unless the get up under the eaves and pop it up). Very pleased and will not do any other kind from now on.

Ditto. I did a roof-over of the existing shit shingles and screwed down to the decking below. Makes it much quieter.
