There were actually four. Two were malefactors and two were thieves. But you have to really work the Gospels to see it.
And when Jesus said "Truly I say to you, today you will be…." this has been interpreted wrong. Remember that Jesus spoke in Aramaic. I can read and write in the same alphabet as Aramaic, but I don't understand or know all the words. However, you have to remember that in every language there are ways of saying things and idiosyncrasies that you wouldn't really understand unless you spoke that language. Well, I speak Assyrian and Assyrian stems from Aramaic. We do have a lot of similar ways of saying things.
In this case, it's the way the word "today" is used. Watch what happens when you put the coma in a different place…
"Truly I say to you today, you will be with me in paradise…"
In other words its a figure of speech that puts an emphasis on what you are about to say.
It's like saying "As sure as I'm standing here, you will be with me in paradise." And you can see it especially because he begins the sentence with "Truly", clearly he's putting an emphasis on it. As truly as I say this to you today, you will be with me in paradise.
See, the World wants you to believe that the dead are alive. Those that sinned are in hell and those that believed in God are in heaven, NOW. Well, that can't be true if you really dissect the Word of God. Really work it. Because in Corinthians it talks about what happens when Jesus Christ returns - "the dead shall be raised…meet him in the air".
Well, why would the dead in Christ need to be raised from the dead if they're already in heaven with God??? No one can answer that question. Because it doesn't fit. If the Bible is the true word of God (and it is) and God is perfect (and he is) then his word cannot contradict itself, otherwise some of it would be not true, and that can't be.
So when you see what seems like contradictions, it's either your misunderstanding or a mistranslation.
Also, how cruel would God be to take only certain people that are in Christ up in heaven while the rest of us are still here suffering in this world??? That doesn't translate to a loving and just God.
Also, if you do a word study on the dead, or death you will see that according to God's word, the dead are NOT ALIVE. They are asleep, dead, unconscious, able to do NOTHING.
So, why would they want to mislead us in this way??? So that they can make you think that the devil spirit that is imitating your aunt Bessy is really your aunt Bessy. If the dead are just dead, then they can't fool you into communicating with devil spirits and fuck you up.
