There is a way to fix all of this with local ballot hand counting and online, real-time tallying. You'd basically have to c-span the entire operation, and make it where people could "tune in" (websites for every county?) and watch the counters do the counting. The problem is every state can and does make up all their own rules. The People in each state have to demand the changes.
I'm curious to see how this pans out, but I'm reminded of POTUS constantly calling for same day, paper ballots, so it might be that's what we end up with when this is all said and done.
