Gowdy cannot do anything while he's in the house. He can ask questions and put people on the spot in committees, but house members have very little individual power.

They have the power to pass laws, appropriate funds and impeach. Expecting them to do much more than talk is an unreasonable expectation.

Gowdy is tired of talking and that's why he's leaving.

IMHO, having him as AG would be awesome because he would actually INDICT these assholes.
