Literally, the reason each wavelength has a different color set of protective eyewear. High powered Co2 lasers goggles are clear because in the infrared spectrum, black is translucent/invisible where as clear is black/solid. I have multi spectrum goggles rated for testing those laser targeting eyeballs, they have multiple colored/density layers/coatings to handle everything that can be thrown at them. They were approximately $2800 & look like something Elton John would wear playing a concert.

Yes, colors do in fact matter.

Co2 laser is good for cutting/welding/engraving, perhaps w/modifications genocide but not sure about long covid. At 2% w/a 5 watt it stings like a dickens & you wind up with little holes in your shirt (ask me how I know).

Co2 won't touch water, it has to ablate a surface which creates heat. It's dangerous to our eyeball because the center is actually clear and focuses it to the nerve in the back of the eye. If you have a boo-boo, you'll eventually go blind but in the short interim, you may get to see a cool kaleidoscope like world like the dummy I used to work with till he forgot to put on his goggles.
