Wagner boss announces major move ‘to make Russia greater’

The group is working to make Africa “even more free,” Evgeny Prigozhin said in an address apparently filmed on the continent

The Wagner private military company is continuing to recruit and is working hard “to make Russia even greater,” the head of the group, Evgeny Prigozhin, has said in a new video address. He added that Wagner is also seeking to help Africa become “even more free.”

The short video emerged online on Monday and was apparently filmed in Africa. The PMC boss was armed and dressed in military garb while standing in a savannah-like landscape, with multiple armed men and gun trucks visible in the background.

“The Wagner Group conducts reconnaissance and search activities. Making Russia even greater on all continents! And Africa even more free. Justice and happiness for all the African peoples,” Prigozhin stated, adding that the group has been pursuing “ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and other bandits.”

Wagner is hiring “real heroes,” the PMC boss said, claiming that it continues “to fulfill the tasks that were set and to which we made a promise that we could handle.” Prigozhin did not elaborate on the specific nature of those tasks, or the people who had set them. It was also not immediately clear exactly when or where the address had been recorded.

The address comes after around two months of silence from the Wagner chief. Prigozhin had been active on social media prior to the botched insurrection launched by the PMC in late June, amid a dispute with the Russian Defense Ministry. The PMC ended up being re-deployed to Russia’s closest ally, Belarus, under a deal facilitated by President Alexander Lukashenko.

Over the past few weeks, Poland has repeatedly sounded the alarm over Wagner’s presence in Belarus, even claiming that its contractors tried to breach the border. Minsk has firmly rejected the allegations of Wagner’s purported activities, with Lukashenko claiming Warsaw had “gone mad” with all the speculation surrounding the PMC.

==Austria urges realism in Western stance on Russia

Moscow cannot be “canceled” or “ghosted” and will remain a major global player, Vienna’s top diplomat said==

Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg has argued that Western politicians need to be more realistic in their attempts to isolate Russia, as the country will always be Europe’s neighbour and a key international player.

Speaking on Monday at a panel discussion in Spain, Schallenberg cited the 20th Century German diplomat Egon Bahr, the architect of Ostpolitik – the policy of normalising relations with the East during the Cold War – who said:“America is irreplaceable, but Russia is unmovable”

“Whatever happens, Russia will be our biggest geographic neighbor. Whatever happens, it will probably be still number one as far as nuclear warheads are concerned. It is still a permanent member of the Security Council of the UN,” the Austrian foreign minister noted.

The diplomat warned that if the EU tries to build a security architecture excluding Russia, it will also end up excluding Central Asia and the Southern Caucasus.

“We cannot cancel Russia. We cannot do ghosting on it,” he stressed, adding that the same applies to China.

The event, hosted by the Menendez Pelayo International University (UIMP) in Santander, had several senior European diplomats as guests, including EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell. The discussion focused on Ukraine, whose foreign minister, Dmitry Kuleba, delivered a speech by videolink.

Like other European politicians, Schallenberg blamed Russia for the Ukraine conflict, which, he said has effectively kicked Europe awake from its post-Soviet slumber.

“What in heaven has to happen for us to actually trust this country again?” he asked, voicing a list of Moscow’s supposed transgressions, including “attacking Georgia”.

The brief 2008 armed conflict between Russia and Georgia started when Tbilisi sent troops to seize the then-breakaway republic of South Ossetia, killing several Russian peacekeepers stationed there.

In aiding Kiev, Vienna seeks neither regime change nor partitioning of Russia, but simply supports a world where great powers play by rules, the minister claimed.

Moscow has identified an absence of trust as a major issue in relations with the West. The Russian government has pointed to expansion of NATO in Europe, in breach of promises made to the Soviet leadership, as a key factor leading eventually to the Ukraine conflict.

Ukraine must meet ‘certain criteria’ to receive F-16s – Pentagon

English language training will be required for Kiev’s pilots, Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh says

The US has received requests from the Netherlands and Denmark to transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, but Kiev must meet “certain criteria” before they’re approved, a Pentagon spokesperson has said.

“In order for the third-party transfer to be completed there are certain criteria that have to be met, including the English language training, other things like logistics on the ground,” Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh explained during a briefing on Monday.

She said the level of language training that Ukrainian pilots require was “significant,”adding that this process is “going to take some time.”

In early August, Politico reported that F-16 training for Ukrainians provided by European countries could be impeded by the language barrier. According to the outlet’s sources, only eight out of the first group of 32 pilots selected to fly the US-designed fourth generation fighter jets had sufficient knowledge of English for them to take part in the program.

“So once that criteria is met, we’ll be in a position to authorize the transfer,” the deputy press secretary added.

Singh also confirmed that the US was “open”to the idea of training Ukrainian airmen to fly the F-16s in the event that the Netherlands and Denmark lacked the capacity to teach all of the pilots sent by Kiev at once.

It’ll be up to Ukraine to decide how many of its pilots are going to receive F-16 training, she said, adding that Kiev still hasn’t come up with the final number.

On Sunday, both the Netherlands and Denmark announced that they would provide Ukraine with F-16s, which Kiev had been demanding for months amid its conflict with Russia.

The Netherlands, which has 42 F-16 jets, didn’t say how many it would donate, but Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky claimed that the whole fleet would be heading to Kiev. Denmark promised to give 19 planes to Ukraine, six of which will be provided by the end of the year.

In June, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the F-16s “will burn” once they’re delivered to Ukraine, just like the Leopard-2 tanks, Bradley fighting vehicles and other Western-supplied weapons that were previously supplied.

US-made military speedboat destroyed off Ukrainian coast – Moscow

The vessel was carrying a Ukrainian amphibious team, the Russian Defense Ministry has said

Russian forces have destroyed a US-made speedboat carrying a Ukrainian amphibious team in the northern part of the Black Sea, the Defense Ministry in Moscow reported on Tuesday.

The boat was struck east of Snake Island, the statement said, referring to a small area of land off the Ukrainian coast and close to Romanian territorial waters.

The Russian military had identified the target as a Willard Sea Force watercraft and destroyed it in an airstrike, the ministry added.

Russia improves position near key frontline city – MOD

Ukrainian officials previously ordered an evacuation of civilians from Kupiansk

Moscow’s troops have improved their forward positions near the key Ukrainian city of Kupiansk, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday. Ukrainian authorities had previously ordered a mandatory evacuation of the area around the logistics hub.

The Russian military said the troops had fended off four attacks east of Kupiansk, a strategically important settlement in Kharkov Region. The most intense fighting took place near the villages of Sinkovka and Novosyolovskoye in Russia's Lugansk People’s Republic, the ministry said in a daily briefing.

The northern portion of the front line near Kupiansk has emerged as the scene of a Russian push against Ukrainian troops, as Kiev’s attempts to conduct a counteroffensive in the south falter.

Less than two weeks ago, the Kupiansk municipal administration announced a mandatory evacuation of the city and dozens of other settlements. On Monday, rumors circulated online that at least part of the administration had moved out of the city, though this was not officially confirmed.

Its acting head, Andrey Kanashevich, appeared to refute the speculation by posting images of what he claimed to be a recent meeting with other officials. There was also a photo of him standing next to a local attraction, a monument to a beaver, wrapped in a red-and-black Ukrainian nationalist flag.

Kupiansk is a railway logistics hub located some 120km from the regional capital, Kharkov. Russia seized the city shortly after hostilities with Ukraine broke out in February 2022, but Kiev retook it months later, when Moscow pulled back troops to take more favorable defensive positions.

In June, Ukraine launched a new counteroffensive, which Kiev claimed would result in the seizure of territory. However, the operation has proven to be largely unsuccessful so far, with only a handful of villages captured amid intense fighting.

MEP Christine Anderson Issues Stark Warning to World Health Organization: “We Will Bring You Down!”

"You wanted this fight. Well, guess what? You’ve got it."

By

The Vigilant Fox

“We are here today to tell you WHO globalitarian misanthropists. We are here today to tell you — you picked this fight! You wanted this fight. Well, guess what? You’ve got it. Let’s fight,” announced German MEP Christine Anderson during the Citizen’s Initiative conference in Brussels. “It is you [WHO] that is the small fringe minority. You are the ones who do not have the right to dictate to the people what they want and what they don’t want.”

Here's MEP Anderson's vigorous warning to the WHO, word for word:

"An unelected body like WHO, who is controlled and run by multibillionaires, should never be allowed to act in place of a democratically-elected government. Never, ever. In democracies, ladies and gentlemen, it is government of the people, by the people, for the people, and any government of anywhere in the world who disregards this fundamental principle of democracy by supporting this unprecedented power grab, by WHO is an anti-democrat demonstrating nothing but his utter contempt for the people.

"And these seven brave citizens, they will not stand for this and neither will we. I will expose anyone, whether it’s a member of a government in a member state or a government around the world or a member of parliament in the European member states or parliaments around the world who do not respect the people and do not respect democracy. I will see to it they will be exposed — each and every one of them by name.

"Because guess what? There’s elections coming up and the people might be interested in who is responsible for the abolition of democracy. So we are here today to tell you WHO globalitarian misanthropists. We are here today to tell you — you picked this fight! You wanted this fight. Well, guess what? You’ve got it.

"Let’s fight. Because these brave citizens, my colleagues and I, we will not tire to fight you every step of the way. These brave seven citizens and millions and millions more around the world, these are the people you will have to reckon with from now on. Because we are millions — millions around the world. It is you that is the small fringe minority. You are the ones who do not have the right to dictate to the people what they want and what they don’t want.

So take it from me, take it from us. Take it from these seven citizens who gathered here today. Take it from the millions and millions of people around the world. We will bring you down, and we will not tire until we have done just that. So brace yourselves. We are here, and the fight is on. So let’s have the fight. Let’s commence with the fights, why don’t we? Thank you."

Ukrainian infiltration attempt into Russia thwarted – governor

The sabotage group was countered by several agencies in Bryansk Region, Aleksandr Bogomaz has reported

Russian security agencies foiled a Ukrainian attempt to infiltrate Bryansk Region on Tuesday, Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz has reported.

The saboteurs were by beaten back by border guards from the Federal Security Service (FSB), military troops, and commandos from the regional branch of the National Guard, the official said on social media.

The reported incursion attempt is the third in Bryansk Region in two weeks, and follows separate raids last Tuesday and Wednesday. During the former, a local farmer was injured, according to Bogomaz. The latter attempt resulted in a firefight in which four Ukrainian saboteurs were reportedly killed by Russian forces.

The latest incident took place in the Klimovsk district of Bryansk, according to the governor. The region borders Ukraine to the south and Belarus to the west.

Biden compares deadly Hawaii blaze to minor fire in his house

The US president claimed flames almost deprived him of his wife, his car and his cat in incident 19 years ago

US President Joe Biden has told residents of the fire-ravaged Hawaiian island of Maui that he could understand their suffering because of his experience of a small fire at his own house in 2004.

Biden arrived in Maui on Monday to inspect the aftermath of the deadliest wildfires to occur in the US in more than a century. The official death toll from the disaster currently stands at 115 and is expected to climb, with Maui County mayor Richard T. Bissen Jr. saying that some 850 people are still missing.

Several thousand buildings, mainly private homes, were destroyed by the fierce blaze in early August, with local authorities estimating that more than $5 billion is needed to rebuild.

“I don’t want to compare difficulties, but we have a little sense, Jill and I, what it’s like to lose a home,” the US president told residents of the town of Lahaina, which has been devastated by the wildfires.

“Years ago now, 15 years ago, I was in Washington doing ‘Meet the Press.’ It was a sunny Sunday and lightning struck at home on a little lake that is outside of our home, not on a lake, a big pond,” the 80-year-old recalled.

“And it hit a wire and came up underneath our home into the heating ducts, air conditioning ducts. And to make a long story short, I almost lost my wife, my ‘67 Corvette and my cat,”Biden claimed, adding that it was “not a joke.”

The fire at Biden’s house at Wilmington, Delaware occurred in August 2004 and had been described as “insignificant” by the local fire department. In its report back then, AP said that a “small fire that was contained to the kitchen” had been taken under control by emergency services in the space of 20 minutes.

The US president has mentioned this incident on a few occasions previously, each time providing different accounts of events. Last year, he claimed that “we almost lost a couple firefighters” during that blaze. In 2012, he went as far as saying that he “had a house burn down with my wife in it,” but then corrected himself by pointing out that “she got out safely.”

Biden received a rather cold welcome in Maui as the locals blame Washington for abandoning them amid the crisis. Some took to the streets, chanting “Go home, Joe!” and holding banners reading “No Comment,” in reference to the US leader’s refusal last week to answer questions about the rising death toll in the wildfires.
