less needs.

fewer wants.

less energy needs.

less dependency on centralized energy producers.

DE-centralization.

Huge wind generators (windmill farms) and huge solar panel farms, are just as stupid as huge conventional power generating plants.

Expensive. Polluting in the long term. Dangerous in terms of safety (power lines causing wildfires, and also health concerns etc)

If our households were more energy efficient (ie lessening our needs) then we could more easily meet those needs with fewer solar panels, a few small wind turbines, and eliminate the need to have power lines built and constantly maintained to pump energy from large centralized locations out to us.

Backup and redundancy might be provided by small, local energy plants supporting small local grids.
