TRUMP HANDILY OUTSHINES ALL OTHER GOP CANDIDATES ON WEDNESDAY

President Donald Trump brightly outshone all other Republican presidential candidates on Wednesday night during his interview with Tucker Carlson on X, drawing tens of millions of views in the first few minutes of its posting.

Trump, who is far and away the dominant frontrunner in the Republican primary ahead of 2024, chose to take a “pass” on the first GOP presidential debate in favor of sitting down with Carlson.

The decision has proven to be an overwhelming success, racking up an incredible 73 million views in the first 40 minutes of its posting. The views continued to mount as the night continued.

Unlike many of the other GOP candidates who have run on a campaign platform of slinging mud at the 45th president, Trump succinctly and directly addressed questions from Carlson regarding policy, election integrity, and even Jeffrey Epstein without missing a beat.

Carlson asked Trump if he believed that Epstein really killed himself. “I think he probably committed suicide,” he said.

— Tucker Carlson (@TuckerCarlson) August 24, 2023

The president shared, “I have never seen spirit like there is right now.” He contrasted the enthusiasm of American voters for his presidency against 2016 and 2020, noting that the road to 2024 is more electric than ever before.

He added, “I think they like me, and I know they love my policies…I have never seen spirit like it is right now and the reason is because Crooked Joe Biden is SO BAD. He’s the worst president in the history of our country.”

The president also touched on his relationship with former Vice President Mike Pence, whom he said he hasn’t spoken to “in a long time.”

He told Carlson that he felt that “in his opinion,” Pence could have sent the electoral votes back to the states on Jan. 6, 2021.

Trump also shared with Carlson his top priority as president again in 2025: “Number one is a border, and taking hundreds of thousands of criminals that have been allowed in our country” and sending them back to where they came from.

The president carefully answered Carlson’s final question, asking Trump if he believed the country was headed toward a civil war.

Trump said that the people who were involved in the events of Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol encompassed a spirit of “love and unity.”

He added, “I have never seen such spirit, such passion, and such love.” He concluded that there was a “bad combination” of passion and hatred in the U.S. today.

This tells you everything you need to know about Willis and her motivations.

Fulton County DA Fani Willis Requests Trial Begin October 23

Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis asked for the trial against former President Donald Trump and 18 other defendants to begin on October 23.

Willis “respectfully” asked for a trial to “start for all 19 defendants on October 23, 2023” in a filing on Thursday.

Trump, his former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, his former attorneys Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, Kenneth Chesebro, Jeff Clark, and John Eastman, among others, were all charged as part of the Fulton County investigation.

“The charges include violating the Georgia RICO Act—the Racketeer Influenced And Corrupt Organizations Act; Solicitation of Violation of Oath by a Public Officer; Conspiracy to Commit Impersonating a Public Officer; Conspiracy to Commit Forgery in the First Degree; Conspiracy to Commit False Statements and Writings; Conspiracy to Commit Filing False Documents; Conspiracy to Commit Forgery in the First Degree; Filing False Documents; and Solicitation of Violation of Oath by a Public Officer. Not everyone faces the same charges,” Fox News reported.

“The former president, specifically, was charged with 13 counts: One count of violation of the Georgia RICO Act, three counts of criminal solicitation, six counts of criminal conspiracy, one count of filing false documents, and two counts of making false statements,” the outlet added.

The U.S. House Judiciary Committee is probing Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis regarding her motivations for prosecuting former President Donald Trump.

The investigation was announced Thursday by Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, who wrote to Willis claiming her “indictment and prosecution implicate substantial federal interests, and the circumstances surrounding [her] actions raise serious concerns about whether they are politically motivated.”

Jordan referenced Willis’ prior fund-raising efforts while arguing her case against the former president in the letter, Fox News reported.

“It is noteworthy that just four days before this indictment, you launched a new campaign fundraising website that highlighted your investigation into President Trump,” Jordan wrote. “Additionally, the forewoman of the special grand jury you convened to investigate President Trump earlier this year bragged during an unusual media tour about her excitement at the prospect of subpoenaing President Trump and getting to swear him in.”

Trump was charged with 13 counts in connection with the state investigation into his alleged attempts to rig the 2020 presidential election in the state, and he will surrender himself on Thursday at the Fulton County jail in Atlanta.

Trump’s bail was set by the court at $200,000, and it is anticipated that he will be processed and released quickly. His formal arraignment, where he is anticipated to enter a not-guilty plea, will occur at some point early next month, according to Fox News Digital.

Trump is anticipated to be required to take a mugshot. Other defendants in Willis’ investigation, including former Trump attorneys Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, and others, had their pictures taken as they were being processed.

House Republicans are using news reports that claim Willis used many of the same witnesses and resources as Department of Justice Special Counsel Jack Smith to defend their decision to oversee Georgia state indictments.

“News outlets have reported that your office and Mr. Smith ‘interviewed many of the same witnesses and reviewed much of the same evidence’ in reaching your decision to indict President Trump,” the committee letter reads. “The House Committee on the Judiciary thus may investigate whether federal law enforcement agencies or officials were involved in your investigation or indictment.”

The committee is requesting that the district attorney’s office provide it with all records of its interactions with federal funds, correspondence with the DOJ or any of its divisions, and any records of collaboration with members of the executive branch.

The district attorney’s office must deliver all requested documents by September 7 at 10:00 a.m.

The Trump campaign criticized Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and other prosecutors over his indictment related to allegations that he attempted to invalidate the state’s 2020 election results.

Trump and his allies have accused Willis and others of engaging in “election interference” aimed at hurting his 2024 presidential campaign.

“These activities by Democrat leaders constitute a grave threat to American democracy and are direct attempts to deprive the American people of their rightful choice to cast their vote for President,” the campaign statement said. “Call it election interference or election manipulation—it is a dangerous effort by the ruling class to suppress the choice of the people. It is un-American and wrong.”

Camera Captures What MTG Was Doing on Her Phone at GOP Debate

Reporter Glenn Greenwald, who was in attendance in Milwaukee for the GOP debates, shared a photo on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Greenwald, who was apparently seated right near Greene, posted a candid photo of what the Georgia representative was doing instead of giving her attention to the candidates on stage:

— Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) August 24, 2023

“I’m sitting directly behind @RepMTG at the GOP presidential debate and her attention appears to be at least…. divided,” Greenwald posted.

The reason for Greene’s “divided” attention?

None other than GOP primary front-runner and notable debate absentee Donald Trump.

The former president opted to skip the first debates, arguing that his commanding lead in the polls meant there was nothing but downside to debating.

Despite not being in attendance, Trump made sure that he would still be a topic du jour on Wednesday night by having a pre-recorded X interview with Tucker Carlson air simultaneously with the debate.

Based on Greenwald’s picture, it’s pretty clear that the Carlson interview held far more interest for Greene than whatever it was that was happening on stage.

(And based on some biting social media responses, like this one asking “Can you blame her?”, the lack of interest in the debate itself was palpable.)

You can watch the interview for yourself below:

Ep. 19 Debate Night with Donald J Trump pic.twitter.com/ayPfII48CO

— Tucker Carlson (@TuckerCarlson) August 24, 2023

And while official viewership ratings for the Fox News debate are still not in, the numbers on that Carlson interview suggest that Greene was hardly the only person who would rather listen to Trump and Carlson, instead of Chris Christie and Mike Pence.

As of this writing, that X interview has over 230 million views on the ubiquitous social media platform — a mighty impressive number by any metric.

Greene was clearly one of those 230 million views, based on Greenwald’s photo, and it goes to show you just how deep Trump’s influence runs in the Republican party and among voters.

But last night featured some genuinely heavy-hitters if you’re at all interested in what the GOP’s future may look like post-Trump.

Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy and others could play an outsized role in GOP politics for years to come.

And yet, if Greene’s behavior is as representative as it seems, most people still couldn’t care less. It’s all about Trump, for better or for worse, for the GOP.

Last night’s debate really reinforced that point.

Trump’s Time To Be Arrested Released As Airspace Closed by FAA

The Federal Aviation Administration will be closing the airspace over Georgia for a “VIP” on Thursday, an announcement that comes ahead of former President Donald Trump’s expected surrender to Fulton County authorities following his indictment last week.

The FAA “has imposed flight restrictions around the area above the Fulton County Jail, where the former president is due to appear for processing, from 6:45 p.m. Eastern Time to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday,” Newsweek reported.

WTOC reporter Shea Schrader wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the closure is related to “VIP movement.”

Newsweek noted further: “Several of Trump’s co-defendants, including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and ex-attorneys for the former president John Eastman, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis, have already surrendered and had gone through the booking process, including having their mugshots taken. Just like the other suspects, Trump will also have his mugshot taken after he surrenders for arrest, the first time he has had a booking photo taken in any of the four criminal investigations the former president has been charged under.”

“Unless somebody tells me differently, we are following our normal practices, and so it doesn’t matter your status, we’ll have a mugshot ready for you,” Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat told members of the media last week after Trump was indicted.

In the Fulton County case, Trump was also subjected to a bond for the first time — $200,000 — by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee. Also, the judge cautioned Trump against intimidating potential witnesses or hindering the proper administration of justice.

Furthermore, McAfee issued an injunction preventing Trump from issuing threats against individuals involved in the case via social media.

Trump mocked the imposition of a bond on his Truth Social platform.

“The failed District Attorney of Fulton County (Atlanta), Fani Willis, insisted on a $200,000 Bond from me. I assume, therefore, that she thought I was a ‘flight’ risk—I’d fly far away, maybe to Russia, Russia, Russia, share a gold domed suite with Vladimir, never to be seen or heard from again,” he wrote.

“Would I be able to take my very ‘understated’ airplane with the gold TRUMP affixed for all to see. Probably not, I’d be much better off flying commercial—I’m sure nobody would recognize me!”

Along with Trump, 18 others were indicted, including former lawyers, legal advisers, and campaign staff.

“Can you believe it? I’ll be going to Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday to be ARRESTED by a Radical Left District Attorney, Fani Willis, who is overseeing one of the greatest Murder and Violent Crime DISASTERS in American History,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Monday evening. “In my case, the trip to Atlanta is not for “murder,” but for making a PERFECT PHONE CALL!”

Last week, Willis brought a comprehensive 41-count indictment against Trump and the alleged co-conspirators, claiming that the defendants sought to overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election through actions that allegedly violated Georgia’s Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Furthermore, the indictment accuses them of enticing an official to breach their sworn oath of office.

Andrew McCarthy, who once served as the Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, said in an opinion piece written for The Messenger that challenging the outcome of an election is not a criminal act and that in order an actual criminal operation must be a constant, never-ending threat.

Though the state’s RICO law allows prosecutors to link various crimes allegedly committed by many defendants, McCarthy wrote in his piece there is “a giant hole” because of “the lack of a clear crime to which Trump and his co-defendants can plausibly be said to have agreed.”

House Judiciary Probing DA Willis Regarding Motivations For Trump Prosecution

The U.S. House Judiciary Committee is probing Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis regarding her motivations for prosecuting former President Donald Trump.

An attorney and legal spokeswoman for Donald Trump has provided a big update after the 45th president was indicted in Georgia.

During an interview on Newsmax, Alina Habba said that Trump will be surrendering himself on Thursday in Fulton County, Georgia. Habba went on to slam “the fake news media” for permeating the U.S. justice system.

“Russia hoax, impeachment hoax, I mean keep going, keep going, keep going,” Habba said.

She continued: “What I think is the most frightening is not just the fake news media but that the fake news media, I think, is starting to permeate our court systems and our justice systems, and that’s what scares me.” She said. “If you’re on the right you tend to watch right-wing shows that confirm your beliefs; if you’re on the left you tend to watch things like MSDNC and CNN and that confirms your beliefs on the opposite side.

“So the real question is, How do we start to open our eyes to the truth? And I think if we don’t have people out there giving the truth and I know I for one and I know you both do this, we try and be intelligent about what we say and not just say what people want to hear.

“I for sure don’t do that, but if people don’t start doing that and stop being afraid of being targeted for being honest Americans we’re going to have a real problem.

“I think the [former] president [Trump] has a good point. You know we have a real tragedy happening in the television sector because people don’t trust what they’re watching. So, we can fix it and I take it seriously. I know you guys do but unfortunately, that’s not the way the American people view it all the time,” she said.

Habba stated that the proceedings surrounding Trump’s arraignment on Thursday in Georgia will be “quick” and that her boss will be “home safe” soon after.
