I’d say anyone paying attention must realize they are involved and can’t ignore that fact, but no way is this some fun movie. People are dying and lives are being destroyed and that part is real. At best this is lack of empathy and an effort to make events manageable in the midst of this hell, at worst it’s psychopathic.
