What's for dinner anons? Just finished me a homemade Jimmy John's 6" Italian Sub. Jimmy John's secret is the very thin sliced lettuce & onions. Pour first press olive oil (2Tb.) a little dark vinegar and a pinch of sugar in a small bowl. Slice lettuce & onion very thin. Whisk the oil mixture and add the lettuce & onion.
Optional: I put maybe a teaspoon of olive based mayo on the bottom bread slice. Then as much of the lettuce/onion mixture as will fit. Then thin sliced tomato. Salami, ham & cheddar cheese. put the left over tomato, lettuce and onion on the other side of the plate.
Eat the sub while using a fork to take a forkful of the salad mixture. It's sloppy. Going to need at least 2, most likely 3, paper towels. Hint: the inside is kind of slippery so when you take a couple of bites from one side you will have to turn the sub around and eat from the other side.
