You need a solid cargo agent who will set up a customs account for you anon. I learned all the ropes over a 3 or 4 month period. Do your homework on reliable companies over there, excavators and heavy machinery are classified as non registered vehicles because they don't go on the road. Makes them easier to clear customs and less paperwork. Make sure you buy something with a model sold in North America. Make sure it's tier 3 or tier 4 engine EPA family. Very important. Some guys bring over Hitachi and Kubota models not commonly sold here so the dealerships will snub you for parts. My supplier of machines organizes everything with the shipping company, better customer service than any North American company I ever dealt with. And the machines look and function like brand new.
You put 30% deposit down first. They get a machine and clean it, all filters and fluids changed, add everything you want done, then once it's crated and in queue at the port and loaded on the ship, you pay the remainder 70%. About a week later you get the bill for shipping. Everything is paid by wire transfer. You can have a broker do everything but it will cost you a lot more. So I just have them clear customs.
If you got 25 grand you can get 1 machine with shipping and turn it into 100k. Then go from there. Hardly anything brings over almost new second hand machinery while everyone and their mom is bringing in cars.
I've never had a problem because I went with a super reliable company. Honest to a fault. These 8 ton Cat 308E2s are $33.5k USD each from them. Worth about $170k here each. If anons want to get rich, you need about 25k to play with for everything for your first machine. Sell 4 a year and clear $250k just for sitting on your ass. People come and pick them up, only need to arrange having the containers brought from the port to my house.
