Mark Thompson, a veteran news executive who held top jobs at the BBC and the New York Times, will be the new head of CNN with a mandate to accelerate the cable news channel’s march into the digital media future. On Monday, the story of a Colorado child being booted from school for having a Gadsden Flag patch on his backpack went viral. As RedState reported, school officials claimed the flag was prohibited because it had its "origins in slavery." Attorney Kenneth Chesebro, one of the 19 defendants in the Fulton County election interference case, filed a motion Monday asking a judge to unseal a host of underlying records in the case – including the special grand jury report that recommended charges, the transcripts of testimony heard by the panel, and any recordings of the proceedings. Chesebro is set to stand trial in the case on Oct. 23, after a judge granted his request for a speedy trial. The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) has reported fuel contamination could impact residents who are evacuating from Florida’s coast. FDACS reported fuel contamination has occurred at dozens of gas stations that were serviced by the Port of Tampa. In a press release, FDACS revealed, “Any fuel purchased after 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, at stations supplied by Citgo from the Port of Tampa has a strong likelihood of being contaminated with diesel fuel.”
