Russia is ‘absolutely invincible’ – Putin

A nation’s strength is defined by the determination of its people, the president has said, adding that his country cannot be defeated

Russia has always been and remains “absolutely invincible,” President Vladimir Putin told a group of students at an open lesson marking the start of the academic year on Friday. The mentality of the Russian people makes it impossible for the country to be defeated by anyone, he added.

The president recalled the history of his own family, telling students about his ancestors who lived through World War II. According to Putin, his grandmother was fatally shot by a Nazi soldier but, even as she was dying, she was still thinking about her husband and told Putin’s grandfather “not to cry” in order not to upset her in her final moments.

Do you understand the depth of these relationships between the ordinary people, this love?” the president said, adding that, even in the face of death, his grandmother was caring for her loved one. “How can we not take that for a model?” he added. Putin also said that all members of his family felt deep respect for each other and had a “strong inner culture.”

Putin also said he believes most families in Russia are like this. “And here I understood why we won the Great Patriotic War,” the president said, referring to the Soviet struggle against Nazi Germany in World War II. “One cannot defeat a people with such a mentality,” he said, adding that “we have been absolutely invincible. And we remain as such now.”

His words came as Russia has been locked in a conflict with neighboring Ukraine for more than a year and a half. The latest developments have seen Kiev’s forces unable to breach Russian defenses in nearly three months since the start of the much-hyped Ukrainian counteroffensive.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Ukraine lost some 43,000 soldiers and around 5,000 pieces of heavy equipment between early June and early August, despite the massive military aid provided by Washington and its allies.

(I just realized that EU, US and the West is suffering the same backlash when they attack Russia and Putin like how they attack Trump. The people love Putin and Russia more, now because of the constant attacks on them.)

Conflict should be transferred to ‘Russian territory’ – Ukrainian spy chief

Attacks on Russian soil are aimed at stretching Moscow’s forces thin, military intelligence head Kirill Budanov has said

Kiev should bring the ongoing hostilities with Moscow deeper into Russian territory, the head of the Ukrainian military’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) has said, contradicting an earlier statement by President Vladimir Zelensky. Moscow has repeatedly accused Kiev of staging numerous “terrorist attacks” inside Russia.

In an interview with Ukrainian TV anchor Natalya Moseichuk, Kirill Budanov touted a transfer of military action to Russian territory as an “excellent idea.”

“The war must be extended to other territory – which for us is clearly Russia – and other areas where they have influence,” he said.

According to Budanov, such a tactic would help Ukraine stretch and paralyze Russian forces. “The wider the operations are, the better,” the intelligence official added.

Budanov's remarks starkly contrast with Zelensky’s comments last month when he ruled out attacks on Russian territory, explaining that this “would pose a great risk that we would be left alone” without the West's help.

Around the same time, however, Mikhail Podoliak, a top aide to the Ukrainian leader, claimed that Kiev’s Western backers supported the destruction of “everything Russian” in the territories it deems “occupied,” including the Crimean Peninsula, a statement the Kremlin shrugged off as wishful thinking.

Territory deep inside Russia, including Moscow, has come under recurring drone raids targeting civilian facilities in recent months. Ukraine has stopped short of claiming responsibility for the attacks, with Podoliak blaming “unidentified” aircraft instead.

In addition to aerial attacks, Moscow has repeatedly accused Ukraine of attempting to stage incursions into border regions, resulting in intense skirmishes and civilian deaths. In May, for example, a Ukrainian saboteur group infiltrated the Belgorod region, killing one civilian and injuring several others.

Kiev claimed this was an operation conducted by the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), comprised of neo-Nazi militants and another collaborationist group called the “Freedom of Russia Legion.”

(So Kiev is not even pretending they are fighting a counteroffensive to get their territory back, instead, the West is going to let them cause WWIII, because leaders of the West told Kiev they cannot attack inside Russian territory. They are braggadocios failures)

Rush to accept Ukraine into EU could spell ‘disaster’ – Austrian FM

Fast-tracking membership for Kiev would imply some candidates are “more equal than others,” Alexander Schallenberg has warned

The EU cannot afford to prioritize Ukraine’s accession to the bloc while neglecting other long-standing candidacies, Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg warned on Friday.

Speaking on Politico’s EU Confidential podcast, Schallenberg said that while he believes Ukraine and neighboring Moldova belong in the “European family,” the EU must carefully consider its enlargement policy.

“We can’t have Ukraine on the fast-track and the other countries on the service line. That will be a geostrategic disaster,” the minister claimed. Referencing George Orwell’s dystopian novel ‘Animal Farm’, Schallenberg stressed that the EU should avoid a system in which some countries “are more equal than others.”

The Austrian minister noted that the EU had promised membership to Western Balkan nations around 20 years ago, but had failed to deliver on that pledge. He urged Brussels to “put its money where its mouth is” and drop “binary thinking” about membership, suggesting candidate nations should be allowed some participation in EU deliberations and activities.

“We cannot wait. Because if we wait, we might lose these regions. We might lose Ukraine again… and the Western Balkans,” Schallenberg warned. He added that if the EU could not prove its credibility in its own neighborhood, it would not be able to play any significant role globally.

Ukraine declared its aspirations to join the EU as a national strategic goal several years ago, but only formally applied for membership in late February 2022, days after Russia launched its military campaign in the country. Moldova followed Ukraine a few days later, and both Kiev and Chisinau were granted EU candidate status in June of the same year.

However, EU officials have refused to set specific deadlines for Ukraine’s accession, saying that it must address issues such as rampant corruption as well as introduce comprehensive legal reforms. Moldova’s membership bid has been complicated by the unresolved issue of its breakaway republic of Transnistria.

(The EU would be insane to admit Ukraine in the EU, first they will be a “welfare country” for the other countries to support them. One of the main reasons they have not been included in the EU and NATO, is that their corruption if off the charts, they had the dictate that they had to eliminate it, but it’s only gotten worse. Plus Zelensky and his Admin attack publicly the EU leaders, pick fights with other countries and create chaos wherever they go because they want an exception to every rule, “because they are Ukraine”. I still think this is just mouth service, and when the west drops Ukraine, the matters will be dropped, because Kiev failed to win the unwinnable war)

Ukraine could seek extradition of draft dodgers from EU – senior MP

The thousands who bribed officials or forged documents to flee the country should be prosecuted, David Arakhamia has said

Military-aged Ukrainian men who fled the country during mobilization could be forcibly returned home to face trial, top lawmaker David Arakhamia told one of the country's state-controlled TV broadcaster on Thursday.

Those who managed to flee by bribing officials or forging certificates supposedly declaring them unfit for military service should be prosecuted, he added.

Ukraine is now actively developing its "international legal aid" mechanisms, said Arakhamia, who leads President Vladimir Zelensky’s ‘Servant of the People’ party faction in the parliament. (The sheer irony of the title, “servant of the people’s party” doesn’t exactly ring true)

"Our law enforcement officials can file extradition requests against such people in pretty much any country in the world except for Russia," the MP said. "What will happen to the people who did so? They will face prosecution … over bribery, document forgery and mobilization dodging." (GESTAPO alive and well in Ukraine. I think the guy is full of shit, because they are many non-extradition countries)

His words came just a day after Kiev announced its plans to review all draft exemptions to "deal" with any "clearly groundless and illegal" decisions that spared potential conscripts from being mobilized and sent to the frontlines.

The head of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), Aleksey Danilov, has said that Kiev was rolling out a "newly approved" plan for further mobilization, calling up as many men as it may need to continue the fighting.

In early August, Zelensky dismissed every regional conscription commissioner in the country, following a series of corruption scandals uncovered by Ukraine's security service. Over one hundred criminal cases have been opened against conscription officials, alleging they charged $6,000-$10,000 for fraudulent medical exemptions from military service.

According to the BBC, Ukrainians appear unwilling to be drafted and replenish the "constant" heavy casualties in the ongoing conflict with Russia. Multiple social media groups, which sometimes boast as many as 100,000 members, have sprouted up in various Ukrainian regions to share ways of avoiding conscription, the British broadcaster said. Almost 20,000 draft-dodgers have been captured attempting to flee the country, Financial Times reported citing official figures.

Ukrainian-born US lawmaker seeks to end ban on funding neo-Nazis

The bill seeks to repeal the ban on sending money to the Azov Battalion

Congresswoman Victoria Spartz, an Indiana Republican, has proposed an amendment to the 2024 Pentagon funding bill that would remove the 2018 prohibition on funding Azovdue to the Ukrainian unit’s neo-Nazi character. (OK, that’s it, no matter how fiery she is, seems like Ukraine has a plant in Congress! Anons we may need to do so history research on her. Unbelievable!)

FellowRepublican Andy Ogles of Tennessee, however, wants to explicitly banthe Pentagon from providing intelligence to Azov.

The Spartz amendment would “Strike section 8105 of the bill which prohibits funds to the ‘Azov Battalion,’” according to documents posted on the website of the House Rules Committee. It would amend HR 4365, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act for the next fiscal year, which begins in October.

Journalist Aida Chavez noticed the amendment on Thursday, along with several other proposals by Republican lawmakers, who have a slim majority in the House.

Ogles, on the other hand, wants to expand Section 8105 to ban the US from providing intelligence to Azov, and also ban any aid to the ‘Russian Volunteer Corps’ (RVC). He had previously tried to ban any “funding, equipment, training, fuel, or other support” to “the Russian Volunteer Corps, the Azov Battalion, or any other neo-Nazi militia” in Ukraine in an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

The Azov Battalion was originally a militia set up by the notorious neo-Nazi Andrey Biletsky after the 2014 US-backed coup in Kiev, which took part in Ukraine’s crackdown on dissidents in Kharkov and Donetsk. Biletsky admitted to several Western outlets that he handpicked their symbols – the Wolfsangel rune used by the German 2nd SS Panzer Division ‘Das Reich’ in WWII, and the Black Sun logo beloved by SS leader Heinrich Himmler.

Spartz was elected in 2020 and represents Indiana’s 5th congressional district. She was born in Chernigov in present-day Ukraine, and immigrated to the US in 2000. Her amendment is the first time any US lawmaker has attempted to repeal Section 8105 since it was passed in 2018.

In late 2019, a group of 40 House Democrats wrote to the State Department, describing Azov as a “violent white supremacist” group “that openly welcomes neo-Nazis into its ranks.” The unit responded by accusing them of hostility to Ukraine.

Azov has since been fully integrated into Ukraine’s armed forces. The ‘Azov Tactical Group’ is currently operating as part of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, recently visited by President Vladimir Zelensky on the Donbass front.

Several other House Republicans have proposed more Ukraine-related amendments to the Pentagon funding bill. Matt Gaetz of Florida and Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia want to block any funds from being used for Ukraine. Greene also wants to ban “the conduct of ground operations in Ukraine by the US Armed Forces or intelligence officials of the US.”

Paul Gosar of Arizona has proposed redirecting all $300 million from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (Section 8104) to the pay of enlisted service members, while his colleague Andy Biggs wants to delete the entire section outright. Montana’s Matt Rosendale would block all spending on Ukraine “until a border wall system along the US-Mexico border is completed and operational control of such border is achieved.”
