There's a ritzy cluster of homes in the town my dad grew up in. It used to be the town dump. They plowed it over and built fancy homes that all the rich folk hurried up to buy. Now imagine everything that got buried there.

A lot of alcohol laws were wag the dog type things, where the feds told the states they had to pass laws like the .08 laws or they would yank all the interstate funding. A lot of state overreach too, but a ton of laws were made at the behest of ladies in funny hats a hundred years ago.

Can't repair your roof or porch without permission and a greased palm permit. Cant park a car on your property if it doesn't have current registration. And that grass better not be too many inches tall.
None of these things are governments business, just extortion.
The concept that the government should be issuing licenses of any kind is just a scam to convince people that the govt that they are in charge and that people should beg them for permission. Guns, driving, alcohol, professional licenses. Cutting hair! You can literally do it yourself in front of a mirror, but do it for someone else and the govt wants you to beg permission first.
