New Texas law requires drunk drivers to pay child support if they kill a parent or guardian

House Bill 393 has gone into effect as of September 1.

The bill states that the convicted drunk driver will be required to pay the child until the child is 18 or until the minor graduates from high school.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed the bill in June.
