masons have waged an excellent PR campaign over the last years.
just a group of "belief in higher power" men in your community who like to share a quiet night out together on the 1st thursday of every month (every lodge is diff… it's just an example) to enjoy comraderie with fellow, like-minded, pillars of their community as they plan good works via local charities/volunteering.
all that silly nonsense about secret handshakes, secret ceremonies? that's just stuff we've done for years… that yes, while it appears very outdated, and satanic on the surface… it is not… it's just a homage to historically dangerous times when communities had to stand up to oppressors.
