For the fourth year in a row, Illinois tops the list of states where Americans are fleeing as residents struggle with high taxes, crime and a soft economy, according to a new report from the moving company Allied Van Lines.

Since 2019, Illinois has consistently had more outbound moves than inbound moves with Allied than any other state, according to the moving company's latest U.S. Migration report.

For the past four years in Illinois, more than 65% of all interstate moves involved residents leaving the state compared to less than 35% of moves that involved people coming to Illinois.

After Illinois, California, New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania round out the list for top outbound states in 2022. All of the top outbound states excluding New Jersey have been at the top of Allied's outbound list since 2017. All five have Democrat governors.

"Those who could afford to relocate, moved south and settled along the Sunbelt, which offered stronger economic opportunities and a lower cost of living than the West Coast or Northeast," the report added.

Meanwhile, Allied's data show the top five "inbound" states are Arizona, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

"Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Illinois are not expensive states, but have experienced slow job growth compared to North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida," Allied said in its report, which ranks Florida as the No. 6 state for inbound moves.

While New York City tops the list of cities with outbound moves, three of the top five slots for top outbound cities are located in California with Anaheim as No. 2 followed by San Diego, Chicago and Riverside.

"A shocking 27% of New Yorkers are planning to leave the Empire State in the next five years, with 30% saying they wish they lived somewhere else", reported the New York Post in April of this year.

Meanwhile, the average prices of homes in New York City and the top three California for outbound moves have home prices that are significantly above the national average.

"Chicago is an outlier among outbound cities this year, the only one with a housing market below the national average, a sign other factors (e.g. crime, economy) play a more significant role in its migration patterns," Allied noted.

Crime in Chicago has increased 54% so far this year compared to the same time period in 2019 before the COVID pandemic, Chicago police department data shows.

Adding to the reasons for the exodus from "blue" states, Illinois has some of the highest taxes in the nation, with an effective rate of 12.9% when factoring in state and local taxes, according to the nonprofit Tax Foundation.

Freedom Convoy organizers Tamara Lich and Chris Barber are set to stand trial beginning on Tuesday. The pair were hit with a slew of charges related to their involvement in the protest, which saw tens of thousands of Canadians descend upon Ottawa in early 2022 and demand an end to government-mandated Covid restrictions.

Prosecutors have alleged that by telling supporters to "hold the line" after police asked them to clear the area, Lich and Barber obstructed efforts to restore order in the nation's capital after nearly three weeks of occupation.

The pair's lawyers said in a joint statement Friday that the trial would likely not be an indictment of the Freedom Convoy itself, suggesting it would focus solely on the actions of those who directed participants.

"We do not expect this to be the trial of the ‘Freedom Convoy," the attorneys wrote. "The central issue will be whether the actions of two of the organizers of a peaceful protest should warrant criminal sanction."

Lich and Barber have both been charged with mischief, obstructing police, counseling others to commit mischief, and intimidation.

As Global News reports, the trial is expected to last just over two weeks. During that time, lawyers for both sides will present communications sent out by Lich and Barber to one another, and to those who partook in the Freedom Convoy.

The pair were charged as co-defendants, and Lich has said that given the fact she and Barber started the protest off together, they "feel like [they] have to finish it as a team."

Following their arrests, Lich and Barber were barred from communicating with one another except when in the company of a lawyer.

Lich has been in and out of jail since the protest took place, being denied and granted bail numerous times. Criticism over her treatment has been widespread, with some suggesting that she has been targeted based on her political views.

"Look what Tamara did," her lawyer told Tucker Carlson in an interview last year. "She inspired not only Canadians, 1000s of truckers, to drive to Ottawa to stand for their rights and stand against the authoritarian overreach from these Covid policies, but she also inspired protests around the world. The prime minister I think wants to send a message to Canadians that if you dare challenge me and challenge my view of what living under my reign should look like, you will suffer consequences."

R&B singer Akon has urged African Americans to move to Sengal, Africa, and join his centrally planned community, promising them they will become “millionaires without even thinking twice” and the US, which has supposedly been oppressing them, will “collapse overnight.”

“I mean, you name it. We’re leading in every single sector,” Akon told podcast hosts Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings. “Just imagine if we all just decided to just take all our bags, withdrew [sic] all our money, and go to Africa. Where would America be today? It would collapse overnight.”

According to the Angel singer, African Americans are in a position to make a fortune if they move to Africa now because Africa is in a position where “there’s nothing that’s not needed over there.”

“Africa is in a position where if African Americans take position now, every single African American would be a millionaire without even thinking twice because there’s nothing that’s not needed over there,” Akon said. “So, you guys come with the discipline, you guys come with the knowledge, you come with the resources.”

African Americans “literally built America”, according to the 50-year-old artist, who was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and spent much of his childhood in Senegal.

“We literally built America with our bare hands,” Akon continued. “Our labor, our sweat, our blood. But we’ve never — not only did we never get reparations for it, we never even got credit for it. We never even got recognized for it.”

“And I think that’s what builds so much animosity and anger within our community itself, because we know how much our contribution is worth, but we never got our just due for what [sic] the contribution given.”

Akon is so certain that Africa is the future of the world that he has planned the construction of a futuristic pan-African city in Senegal. He launched his settlement in 2020 with the cooperation of the Senegalese government with the hopes of creating a high-tech community with an economy based on his “Akoin” cryptocurrency.

The project is a perfect way for black Americans to advance themselves, the pop star claims. While he has faced setbacks thanks to the Covid pandemic and the stumbling world economy, the community is still supposedly on a ten-year building plan.
