Six Republicans File Lawsuit to Remove Trump from 2024 Ballot in Colorado

A coalition of six Republican and unaffiliated Colorado voters, including former state and federal officials, filed a lawsuit Wednesday seeking to disqualify former President Donald Trump from appearing on the state’s 2024 presidential ballot.

The plaintiffs are represented by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a nonprofit and “nonpartisan” watchdog organization, alongside law firms Tierney Lawrence Stiles LLC, KBN Law, LLC, and Olson Grimsley Kawanabe Hinchcliff & Murray LLC.

The case argues that Trump violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which disqualifies any individual from holding federal office if they have “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the United States.

According to the lawsuit:

Donald Trump tried to overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election. Before the election, he made plans to cast doubt on and undermine confidence in our nation’s election infrastructure. After the election, he knowingly sought to subvert our Constitution and system of elections through a sustained campaign of lies. His efforts culminated on January 6, 2021, when he incited, exacerbated, and otherwise engaged in a violent insurrection at the United States Capitol by a mob who believed they were following his orders, and refused to protect the Capitol or call off the mob for nearly three hours as the attack unfolded.

Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election and interfere with the peaceful transfer of power were part of an insurrection against the Constitution of the United States. Because Trump took these actions after he swore an oath to support the Constitution, Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment prohibits him from being President and from qualifying for the Colorado ballot for President in 2024…

Racism and white supremacy—the same virulent ideologies that led to the Civil War and, in its wake, the Fourteenth Amendment—pervaded Trump’s insurrection and the movement surrounding it. Ahead of January 6th, Trump and his allies directed their false claims of election fraud at cities with large Black populations, targeting and specifically identifying “urban” areas in Detroit, Philadelphia, Milwaukee and Atlanta. They sought to coerce and intimidate officials in those jurisdictions to invalidate the votes of millions of Black Americans.

Former Colorado House and Senate Majority leader Norma Anderson (R) said in a statement, “Spending 19 years as a state legislator and serving in leadership gave me the opportunity to work across the aisle and to always work to protect the freedoms our Constitution has given us as citizens. I am proud to continue that work by bringing this lawsuit and ensuring the eligibility of candidates on Colorado ballots.”

US Southern Command cancels 'Sound of Freedom' screenings

Released on July 4, the film is based on the true story of Department of Homeland Security Agent Tim Ballard, who left his post to rescue the victims of child human-and-sex trafficking.

The United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) has cancelled two planned screenings of the anti-trafficking film "Sound of Freedom," which has become an unexpected blockbuster hit.

Released on July 4, the film is based on the true story of Department of Homeland Security Agent Tim Ballard, who left his post to rescue the victims of child human-and-sex trafficking. Jim Caviezel stars as Ballard. SOUTHCOM was originally slated to screen the film on Aug. 28 and Oct. 19, The Hill reported. U.S. Army Garrison-Miami (USAG-M) intended to screen the film to educate personnel about the relevant issue that sometimes affects the military command.

Army Col. Emanuel Ortiz confirmed the cancellations to the The Hill, saying "a determination was made to cancel the screenings … Individuals interested in viewing the film can still do so at a local theater of their choosing. The now canceled screening was intended to help raise awareness of the nexus between [transnational criminal organizations] and human rights abuses they frequently commit as part of their human smuggling activities."

"Sound of Freedom" has faced considerable scrutiny from legacy and left-wing media, who have repeatedly attempted to tie the film to QAnon conspiracy theories. Law enforcement officials, however, have contended that the problem of human trafficking is a monumental issue facing federal agencies.

"This is a wildfire. I haven't seen Sound of Freedom," former FBI Intelligence Chief Kevin Brock said in an August appearance on the "Just the News, No Noise" television show. "But I can almost assure your audience that whatever they saw there is worse in reality. And human trafficking, the exploitation of children is so mind numbingly devastating that it's hard to watch."

Whistleblower concerns about Hunter Biden firms first surfaced in spring 2015, SEC memos show

Morgan Stanley whistleblower raised concerns to bank, federal regulators about “fraudulent” schemes, “suspicious” transactions.

Banking whistleblowers first began raising alarms about Hunter Biden’s business deals as long ago as Spring 2015 while his father was still serving as vice president, flagging what they feared were “suspicious” transactions and “fraudulent" schemes. One of the bankers became so concerned he eventually escalated his concerns to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) only a few days before Donald Trump won the presidency in 2016, according to documents provided to Congress and obtained by Just the News.

“Due diligence on involved parties reveals less than clean records,” a Morgan Stanley investment bank compliance presentation from May 2015 stated, specifically providing a dossier about Hunter Biden’s background, his expulsion from the Navy, his association with the Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings and photos of the future first son with Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

You can view that presentation here.

The presentation is one of the earliest known whistleblower activities to raise serious questions about Hunter Biden and his foreign business exploits. It triggered suspicious activity reports (SARS) filed by banks and a SEC complaint that would eventually lead to the 2016 indictment of several Hunter Biden business partners in a bond fraud scheme and later FBI and IRS investigations targeting Hunter Biden himself for tax evasion.

While SARS reports are frequently generated by compliance officers in the financial industry, the step of independently reporting information directly to the SEC is much more rare.

The documents obtained by Just the News chronicle the efforts by at least one vice president inside the Morgan Stanley investment bank to blow the whistle on companies affiliated with Hunter Biden and one of his chief business partners, Devon Archer. The concerns included that the firms may have been involved in a fraudulent bond scheme with the Native American Wakpamni tribe and may have improperly benefited from tax dollars in a separate technology investment.

Eventually two Morgan Stanley officials would file whistleblower complaints seeking investigations with federal agencies, according to interviews of people involved with the complaints. To date, there is no indication how those federal agencies under Presidents Barack Obama, Donald Trump or Joe Biden handled the information.

The SEC and Morgan Stanley both declined comment Thursday, saying they do not publicly discuss whistleblower cases. Abbe Lowell, a lawyer for Hunter Biden, did not return an email seeking comment.
