Whenever I bring up Biden corruption, I usually get the ‘so what, Kushner got $2b from the Saudis’.

Best I can figure, JK set up a private equity firm after Trump was out of office and it attracted $2b in investment funds. The implication is that JK had no credible investment record to justify the investment and that it was a payoff for ‘services rendered’ during Trumps time in office. I.e. they argue that JK is worse than Hunter.

‘Not Guilty’ and ‘Innocent’ are not the same thing

‘Not guilty’ is not the same thing as ‘innocent’ when dealing with strictly legal concepts.

When an accused comes before a court they are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.

Note that when the jury foreman renders a verdict it is either ‘guilty’ or ‘not guilty’. The jury does not render a verdict ‘guilty’ or ‘innocent’.

Nobody is found to be innocent or proved to be innocent in a court of law because they are already presumed to be innocent.

The presumption of innocence is only negated by a finding of guilty.

If the defendant is found to be ‘not guilty’, then the presumption of innocence persists.

The fact that we use the terms ‘not guilty’ and ‘innocent’ as synonyms in everyday conversation does not negate the fact that they have distinct legal meaning.

Not innocent ‘again’ in the eyes of the law.

If you are not proven to be guilty, then you never ceased being presumed innocent. Your status remains unchanged.

Common usage of the terms differs from the legal usage.
