Brian Paré was very active on social media, where he repeatedly asserted that the forest fires were set by the government, a theory with no real proof.
"This is happening in Canada […] when I say climate change does not exist but invented and fabricated by our governments and their ELITE united nations of the world economic forum and who for their effing de new world order of 2030," he wrote on August 26, reposting a video showing a helicopter dropping flames on the forest, the source of which La Presse was unable to confirm.
