my take on such quaries that speculate about horible stuff is that I don't take the bait and assume that mindset of 'as if it were me'.
I figure that the person is talking about themself and replace the 'you' that they use to be them talking about themself and put the question right back to them.
the only answer that is of any value is the one that answers the question for the person asking it when they use that manipulate tense of 'you' to be a third person.
if you mean 'what if one . . . thinks something horid and depraved' then say it like that.
or if you mean 'that I did think such'
don't put it in the tense where you put it out there as if it's the one you are talking to who had those thoughts.
