A really interesting book is The Power Exchange by Alan R. Erwin. It's a novel written in 1979 published by Texas Monthly Press. It's a VERY interesting read. It's about the aftermath of a brutal winter storm made worse by an insufficient fuel supply that caused death in the Northeast. The nation panics and Texas is made the scapegoat.
It's like the US literally goes to war with Texas. Texans threatens to cut off oil to the rest of the US. Troops on the Louisiana border, the whole bit. This anon has an autographed 1st edition. It's a really thought provoking novel.
