They've gotten more sophisticated with single posts so they can't be filtered, so what can you do? Get callouses on your eyeballs and discipline yourself to scroll right past without looking. It's hard, but you can do it.

I think the primary effectiveness is to dissuade normies from seeing any content by making the experience so disgusting they'll give up. I think it worked in the early years, but now this has become so mainstream they see right through it and it becomes a motivator and bellwether of how close we are to the "target". It's now become so common and trite it's lost its effectiveness.
