This movie is getting interesting.

The future of my occupation just got called into question when Unity decided to change their pricing plan in the most anti-consumer way possible.

I work for a small mobile games company using the Unity Engine and relying on in app purchases and ads.

We are only alive due to paid user acquisition.

With the new price change each install will cost us more than we paid to get them to install in the first place and that is not sustainable for us and I suspect many others like us.

We are scrambling to figure out the viability of changing to another engine like Unreal or Godot, but that means everyone's down for the next few months learning a new engine and we need to get the ported project out before January, when the price change takes effect, which doesn't even sound realistic if we were experts in the new engine.

On the bright side, say goodbye to Unity shovel ware in your appstores.
