Anyone else notice that the feminist campaign against rape culture, and the anon campaign against sex trafficking by established powers, are both focusing on essentially the same basic issue? This anon feels there's fertile common ground upon which both interests could meet.

Simply by the nature of the problem which we are facing, there is literally nothing which can possibly distract from the real issue, but by all means go ahead and tire yourselves out attempting to do so. Reality will still be waiting for you once you've finally accepted that nothing else works.

So, hey, great chance to segue into one of my favourite examples. Anon happened to learn recently how computer chips are made, and discovered that one of the most significant processes is actually one of the oldest technologies which exists. Primitive man learned to extract metal from ore by heating it in a furnace, so the evaporating metal condenses on the wall of the furnace as a more pure substance. Similarly, in the creation of computer chips, metal is often super heated to be deposited in layers upon a substrate suspended above. This got anon thinking about where our ideas actually come from, if for all our lauded advances we're still using many of the same fundamental ideas. It puts technology in a new light if you consider how much of it is simply a restructuring or refinement of ancient technology.
