I just now read the article at that link & even saw a reader's comment recently posted that seems to hit the nail on the head. Copy/pasted here:
I suppose it would be an important point to mention that Trump (through Congress) has the Constitutional Power to have the military to combat against Insurrections & Invasions (Article 1, Section 8, Clause 15)…But this power existed before the institution of Marshal Law & does not need any declaration of actual Marshal Law to engage that Power.
There even is a Congressional check against Presidential abuse of this Power, as it originates from Congress; revoking the title of Commander in Chief (Article 2, Section 2, Clause 1). Congress is the ultimate Lawful Authority concerning every aspect of the establishment & the maintaining of the military, as specified under Article 1. Bestowing that title upon a President & revoking it (it was never intended to be used as a permanent title) as they see fit. It is not a title that's passed down through the Oval Office.
As long as our government lives up to the Constitution (as it is required through the Oath of Office), then We the People should have no problem. The real problem is that the Federal government has spent time through multiple generations of people in the process of unlawfully accumulating excessive power into itself…What I see is that Trump is on a path to begin bringing our government back to its Constitutional roots. Cleaning out the corruption in the FBI & the DoJ is a necessary "first step" in order to Constitutionally clear out the rest of the corruption; without doing that first, everything afterwards would still bear the taint of corruption, including prosecutions.
