You are mistaken. The Bible clearly states that Jesus spoke directly to the Apostles while he spoke in parables to the people. He was schooling the Apostles into the meaning behind the parables and preparing them for their teaching role.
Mark 4:34 - "and He did not speak to them without a parable; but He was explaining everything privately to His own disciples."
Similarly, Jesus explained how he was written about in the Scriptures (beginning with Moses and the Prophets) to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus.
