Jephthah made a foolish promise that he didn't think through all the way. He should have repented in making it, and asked forgiveness for making it.
When we ask for God's help in accomplishing something, we should not make foolish promises that we can't keep, or shouldn't keep.

I had to go to the doctor during covid and the Karen wearing a mask behind plexiglass told me that I had to put my mask up over my nose.
There was one other person in the waiting room who was sitting about 20 feet away from me.

I think they were mostly pissed off because they were told that they had to wear a mask to keep their job, so they imposed their frustration by demanding that everyone else had to wear a mask too.
I think that most people knew that the masks didn't actually work, but their ideas was, "If I have to wear one, then so should everyone else."
