Suppose a symptomatic patient came to you, the doctor. He is a true positive for COVID and his symptoms are cough, runny nose, mild fever, some muscle pain, HR 92, and pulse ox 96%. Infiltrates on CXR. No prior medical problems, healthy heart before.

Would you tell this patient to wear a mask?

If you did what do you think would happen?

Would you tell them to make sure they wear it while sleeping?

I read some studies showing increased colonization of masks within a few hours of wearing them, making me wonder if these bacterial cell wall components referred to as ENDOTOXIN could start being re-inhaled causing progressive damage.
