The Wall (tm) is a good idea but doesn't stop everything completely, the Remain In Mexico policy was strong at keeping out migrants and the like.
But personally I believe that an increase in border patrol and supplementation of national guard or military forces to maintain a secure border while ICE agents weed out the most dangerous of illegal immigrants, would be a good step.
In the end you need a strong Mexican government that is willingly to do a corruption purge themselves.
If the USA cannot preform a corruption purge, how would any other system of governance even begin to think it is an applicable idea?
