Mr. Biden: [Meeting with HBCU Advisors]: The black community in particular is going to suffer if that occurs. The shutdown is going to risk nutrition assistance in nearly seven million moms and children; it's going to disproportionally affect black families. The Department of Housing and Urban Development would have to stop nearly all of it's enforcement work fighting housing discrimination. EPA would have to stop it's important work bringing environmental justice to the front line.

Mr. Biden: Everybody does better in the whole United States when the potential of HBCUs is realized.

Mr. Biden: The UAW gave up an incredible amount back when the automobile industry was going under…they saved the automobile industry, and I think that now, that the industry is roaring back, that they should participate in the benefit of that.
