I'm willing to bet this is precisely what happened.
McCarthy could either do what the resistance Rs want (stop funding Ukraine) or do what the other resistance Rs want (impeach Biden first). In his struggle to meet priorities and keep his seat, McCarthy (likely) ran to Ds to cut a deal, and then they stabbed him in the back with Jeffries' latest announcement, moments ago (Ds are going to vote McCarthy out).
-Biden will get impeached.
-Ukraine will lose funding (eventually).
-McCarthy will get ousted.
-Kamala will get the Oval (briefly).
