Dear Majority Leader Schumer, Minority Leader McConnell, Speaker McCarthy, Leader Jeffries,
Chair Murray, Vice Chair Collins, Chair Granger, and Ranking Member DeLauro:
We write to request urgent action to advance critical and sustained security assistance and economic support for Ukraine. We appreciate the bipartisan statement issued by Senate leadership over the weekend, reiterating that support for Ukraine remains a top legislative priority.
Congress cannot sit idly by while Russiaâs unprovoked invasion of Ukraine continues.
This past weekend, Congress came together to pass a bipartisan continuing resolution (CR) to keep the government funded and avoid an unnecessary and devastating government shutdown. We supported this important compromise to ensure a functioning United States government.
However, we share our constituentsâ frustration and concern that this package failed to include emergency funding necessary to support Ukraine in its response to Putinâs inhumane and illegal war.
The bipartisan Senate CR included significant emergency funding for Ukraine, and we urge you to build on this work and put forward a bipartisan, bicameral funding package for Ukraine as soon as possible.
Now is not the time to slow our aid to Ukraine. Russian forces continue to bomb civilian populations â targeting hospitals,12 schools,3 churches,456 and apartment buildings.789
Such brutal, egregious violations of Ukrainian sovereignty and Ukrainian citizensâ basic human rights must not go unanswered. Our allies and partners continue to look to the United States to lead the effort to hold Russia accountable and stand up for democratic values and norms.
While Ukraine has started its counteroffensive and made progress in stemming the tide of the war, without sustained support, Ukraineâs aerial defense will falter, and munitions will run critically low. The Department of Defense (DOD) has exhausted nearly all available security assistance funding for Ukraine. While the Ukrainian soldiers are some of the worldâs best fighters, the Russian
war machine funding is not stopping and dictators, like North Koreaâs Kim Jong Un, are aligning themselves with their malign effort. Our resolve signals to bad actors around the world â including the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) â that the U.S. and the worldâs democracies will not let an authoritarian regime invade a sovereign nation.
Our states are home to thousands of members of the Ukrainian diaspora. We hear from them daily, and they remind us of the importance of continuing our commitment to helping Ukrainians defend themselves and their homes. They have shared stories about their friends and family members who are living under constant threat of indiscriminate aerial bombing of civilian targets. We must follow their lead and reaffirm that American leadership remains committed to democracy and human rights.
Two weeks ago, President Zelenskyy addressed Members of Congress and made clear the vital need for additional aid. We appreciate the commitment exhibited both by President Biden and Senate leadership toward meeting President Zelenskyyâs call for action. Now that government the shutdown has been averted, we must provide Ukraine with the resources necessary to defend
itself.
It is past time for the U.S. Congress to take up and pass legislation guaranteeing Ukraine has the critical resources necessary to continue defending itself against Putinâs illegal war. We urge you to act immediately to advance legislation that will provide critical and sustained security and
economic support for Ukraine to the Presidentâs desk for his signature.

McCarthy gets Liz Cheneyed

Still MAGA after all these years. Rush Limbaugh read a few of my columns on the air.
You lie, goodbye.

By a vote of 216-210, the House ended Kevin McCarthyâs two-faced, double-dealing speakership, as he became the first and only person booted out as Speaker of the House. A bipartisan majority decided enough was enough with McCarthy who had promised to allow congressmen to read an appropriations bill and wait 72 hours before holding a vote. He broke that promise this weekend. Matt Gaetz moved to remove him. Gaetz and 7 other Republicans joined 208 Democrats to vote McCarthy out.
This is a payback. McCarthy and his loyalists joined the Democrats to pass the Democrat budget. Gaetz used Democrats to oust McCarthy. Democrats wisely go by the Benedict Arnold Rule: never trust a turncoat.
It turns out that Jamaal Bowman pulled that fire alarm 3 days early because McCarthyâs forced resignation just set the House afire, figuratively.
Rank-and-file Republicans are as happy to see McCarthy leave as Taylor Swift is writing a song about the boyfriend she just dumped. Washington lifers are as sad as Travis Kelce will be when she dumps him.
The lifers are so mad that they are writing mean things about Gaetz.

National Review reported, âAmid a motion to vacate House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.), former speaker Newt Gingrich urged the GOP to expel McCarthyâs âanti-Republicanâ challenger, Matt Gaetz (R., Fla.).â
Gingrich wrote in the Jeff Bezos Post, âGaetz obviously hates House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) â and thatâs fine. If Gaetz were simply a loudmouthed junior member who attacked McCarthy every day, that would be fine, too. He would just be isolated with a small group of lawmakers who canât figure out how to get things done. Theyâd huddle together seeking warmth and reassurance from their fellow incompetents.â
I like Gingrich. He could have been a successful speaker had he not impeached Bill Clinton, who turned his perjury into merely lying about sex.
For Gingrich to write this in the Bezos Post is disturbingly unpatriotic and totally not conservative because he lent credence to the most virulently anti-American news outlet in America not named AP.
He wrote, âBut Gaetz has gone beyond regular drama. He is destroying the House GOPâs ability to govern and draw a sharp contrast with the policy disasters of the Biden administration.â
House Republicansâ ability to govern? Does he mean the losers who wasted two years of power by not lifting a finger to Build The Wall? What is the sharp contrast with Bidenâs open borders disaster? House Republicans made Bidenâs policy possible.
House Republicansâ ability to govern? Does he mean the losers who wasted two months defending Liz Cheney when she gave Nancy Pelosi cover for that January 6 witch hunt?
House Republicansâ ability to govern? Does he mean the losers who sit on the sidelines while Democrats railroad President Trump with frivolous lawsuits and indictments meant to bankrupt him in legal fees?
I will care about House Republicans when they start caring about me.
Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending Politics, tweeted, âInterim Speaker Patrick McHenry aggressively slams the gavel as he and 200+ other Republicans fume over Kevin McCarthy's ousting.
âWhere was this anger as millions of migrants poured over the southern border?
âWhere was this anger as US debt rises over $33T?
âWhere was this anger when the FBI rounded up Trump supporters and threw them in prison?
âWhere is this anger as the âjusticeâ system tries to take out Bidenâs top opponent in 2024?
âThey sit back and do nothing as our country burns but fume when their buddy loses his Speaker role.â

Stepin Fetchit showed more spine than these jellyfish.
To his credit, Gaetz is fighting back against his critics.
He said, âI take no lecture on asking patriotic Americans to weigh in and contribute to this fight from those who would grovel and bend knee for the lobbyists and special interests who own our leadership.â
But Gingrich wants to expel Gaetz from Congress because Newt sold out long ago and far away. Gingrich would rather punish the man who called out McCarthy than deal with McCarthyâs ineffective leadership. The animus against Trump and Trump supporters has turned Reaganâs big tent party into a party run by clowns.
What exactly has Ronna done as RNC chairman besides raise a lot of money to keep her and her staff well paid while losing election after election after election.
Democrats are having a jolly good time, as well they should. McCarthy is a weakling who is a pale imitation of Paul Ryan who was a pale imitation of John Boehner who was a well-tanned imitation of Dennis Hastert who was a pale imitation of Gingrich who failed to fulfill that Contract With America he wrote.
While Republicans show all the discipline of Lizzo on a diet, Nancy Pelosi kept her side of the aisle in line like a Marine drill instructor.
J.J. Sefton at Ace of Spades HQ had fun with McCarthyâs sleeping arrangements when in Washington, writing, âRegardless of how effective anything the GOP can do to at least slow down let alone halt this madness, they should at least make the effort. As was evidenced yesterday by Frank Luntzâs Thai ladyboy a.k.a. Kevin McCarthy totally caving to the Dems on the continuing resolution, what does the GOP do? Go after one of the few voices of reason Matt Gaetz who rightly has moved to oust McCarthy.â
Republicans are harder on Gaetz than they are on Jamaal Bowman, Hakeem Jeffries, Nancy Pelosi and Hunter Biden combined because crooks and communists pose no threat to the RINO cash flow. Gaetz does.
The three Republicans jostling to replace McCarthy are Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Whip Tom Emmer, and Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik. Ordinarily, Scalise would just get the job but heâs dealing with cancer â on top of recovering from that 2017 assassination attempt by a Democrat. They are figureheads because Congress, like the rest of the federal government, is run by chiefs of staff not elected officials.
The next speaker needs to be someone who will not represent the DC Establishment but will represent Trump supporters because Republicans have a golden opportunity to ride a coming Trump landslide into a 250-185 House and a 60-40 Senate.
The Washington Examiner reported, âAfter over two years of the Biden presidency, people appear to be in agreement that theyâd rather have Republicans in charge of handling the biggest matters facing the nation.
âOn the economy, national security, and even the generic most important problem, people picked Republican leadership over Democrats in the latest Gallup survey.
âAnd not just by a hair. Gallup said the GOP lead in leadership is the biggest in over two decades.â
Gallup said, âRepublicansâ 14-percentage-point lead in public preferences for keeping the country prosperous is up from a 10-point margin last year and is its widest advantage on this measure since mid-1991.â
Republicans blew that opportunity in 1991 when George H.W. Bush said, âRead my lips: no new taxesâ â and then agreed to new taxes. You can put Peggy Noonanâs words in a Bush but you cannot make him Reagan.
Look for McCarthy to join Newt and Ryan at the Fox News henhouse, where he will talk a big game and do nothing.
Just as he did as speaker.

The Pentagonâs Lack Of Loyalty To President Trump
americanthinker.com/articles/2023/10/the_pentagons_lack_of_loyalty_to_president_trump.html
October 4, 2023
By Al Bienenfeld
During the Trump presidency, Pentagon officials refused to follow orders, substituting their own policies over the constitutionally ordained authority of their Commander in Chief. We know that officials lied about troop strength in Syria, attempted to undermine and kill the peace initiative with the Taliban in Afghanistan, and refused to call out the military to quell civil unrest during the George Floyd riots. This is gross insubordination.
The Syria Insubordination
James Jeffrey, who was a deputy national security adviser to President George W. Bush, US ambassador to Iraq and Turkey under President Obama, and US special representative for Syria engagement under Trump, admitted to just some of the games the Pentagon was playing. After the 2020 election, he revealed that the Pentagon routinely misled President Trump into believing that the troop count in Syria was substantially lower than it was:
âWe were always playing shell games to not make clear to our leadership how many troops we had there,â James Jeffrey, US special representative for Syria engagement, said in an interview with Defense One.
When President Trump ordered the withdrawal of US troops from northern Syria, it was considered controversial among members of Congress, diplomats, and the Pentagon. Ultimately, Pentagon officials convinced the President to leave 200 troops behind. According to Jeffrey, the real number was around 900.
Incidentally, Jeffrey was a signatory to the infamous âNever Trumpâ letter from 70 GOP security officials opposing the President.
From the letter:
We believe Joe Biden has the character, experience, and temperament to lead this nation. We believe he will restore the dignity of the presidency, bring Americans together, and inspire our nation to live up to its ideals.
This statement is absurd and speaks to the motives of a corrupt military, along with members of the State Department and national security establishment.
Jeffrey worked with Pentagon officials to undermine and substitute their foreign policy for that of the President in defiance of over two hundred years of constitutional practice. All parties involved in this gross act of insubordination should have been prosecuted.
