This is what happens when you turn off a light switch.

Of course the lightning is proportional to the voltage so you would need to be in a pitch-black room

To even notice anything at 120V

For most people, the problem is how to find a place

Where there is a light switch turned on

In a room which is pitch black.

Some people, especially in the countryside

Will have a yard light that is 20 or 30 yards from the house, and the light switch in a front hall closet.

They can just turn off all the house lights, including LEDs and mobile devices,

Wait 15 minutes for eyes to adjust,

Probably sitting in a closet full of boots and coats too.

Anyway, it's an adventure.

Look directly at the switch you are about to turn off

Tap the switch plate a few times first to help others in your little closet group

To direct their eyes in the right direction

And switch off

There will be a little flash showing

Between the switch lever and the switch plate

Unless your switches are too modern and too perfect

In that case you will need to remove the switch plate,

And take countermeasures (electrical tape)

to prevent shock on exposed wires.

This only works if sheep are stupid enough to only elect people from elite schools

Only elect lawyers

And only elect people with LOTS OF EXPERIENCE

Like Maxine for instance

If people would wise up and not elect anyone

Who had already served a couple of times

Then this problem would not happen again
