Wise man.
Sooner or later all governments tend to revert to their original form - marauders. A band of rapists and pillagers that descends on a human settlement and kills the men, rapes the women, and steals the crops. Over time, they start a protection racket whereby they agree to defend the settlement against other marauding bands of thieves in return for the greater part of the fruits of the people's labour. That, in a word, is government for you.
"Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
And that is something we cannot do ourselves - it is a work of God, the Holy Spirit. I was born again of God about 40 years ago. It was a life-changing experience. I was totally suffused with a love that as fast as it flowed into me, flowed out to all those around me. I just instantly fell in love with everyone - including total strangers. I just wanted to walk up to them and tell them they were loved by God. And I just couldn't stop myself from telling everyone about what had happened to me. I also got this unquencahble desire to read the Bible and pray. I read the Bible from cover to cover in a few, short months. And prayer was an absolute delight. No other experience has even come close to matching that experience of being born again. The intensity has faded but the love has grown deeper and stronger. Looking back, I think had a foretaste of what it will be like in heaven for eternity.
