This is the problem of elections due to the need for donors in order for a campaign to be successful. Donors are rich, therefor they must appease the rich, then comes payback, all which is against the public interest. In reality, to fix this, is to have all election candidates have to have equal access to live venues and media access. For example, only on PBS can you have a mandatory and free campaign outlining your pledges as a candidate of x amount of hours, over x amount of intervals, equal to all other candidates. Think what the speaker of the house does and apply these similar rules, etc….
