Massive protests continue in Cairo after deadly Gaza strike
Egyptians continue to take to the streets in the of the country’s capital, and other parts of the country early on Wednesday, amid simmering anger over the deadly strike in Gaza.
Al Jazeera Arabic is reporting that Egyptian opposition parties led protests in front of the US embassy in Cairo, in which several political and civic movement figures participated.
In Giza, dozens went out in a night march denouncing the Israeli aggression.
Amnesty chief decries ‘cost’ of ‘unreserved support for Israel’
Agnès Callamard, the secretary general of Amnesty International, has said that the reported deaths of hundreds at a Gaza hospital were the “cost” of “unreserved support for Israel” from the US and European Union.
Callamard described the bombing of Al-Ahli Hospital as “horrific” in comments she posted on X soon after reports emerged of hundreds of patients and medical workers killed.
“This is the cost of the US and EU unreserved support for Israel: more civilians killed; more war crimes; more, more, more,” she said.
Israeli officials have been calling for collective punishment of Gaza
Despite Israel’s denial that it does not target civilians or medical facilities after the bombing of the al-Ahli hospital, the country’s leaders have been suggesting that they are collectively punishing Palestinians in Gaza.
“I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed,” Defence Minister Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said early in the war. “We are fighting human animals.”
A day before the hospital bombing, Netanyahu said in a speech that the war was a struggle between “the children of light and the children of darkness”. His office reiterated that statement in now-deleted social media posts.
Moreover, Israel has ordered several hospitals in Gaza to evacuate, drawing condemnations from several medical and rights groups, including Doctors Without Borders (MSF).
Earlier this week, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said if Hamas does not release the captives it is holding, the only things that should be entering Gaza “are hundreds of tons of explosives from the Air Force, not an ounce of humanitarian aid”.

Palestinian Ministry of Health says hospital massacre ‘unparalleled’
A spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has said that most of the victims of the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital attack are children and women, in a statement posted on Telegram in Arabic.
The spokesperson added that the “flood of victims” and severity of injuries were beyond the capacity of medical crews and ambulances.
Doctors are performing surgeries on the ground and in the corridors at the hospital, the post said, adding that supplies would be completely exhausted at the hospital within a few hours as many more people wait for surgeries.

Attack on al-Ahli hospital ‘horrific beyond words’
Human Rights Watch says the attack on the al-Ahli hospital is “horrific beyond words” and calls on world leaders to prevent further “large-scale atrocities” in Gaza.
“Hospitals have special protections. Unlawful attacks committed deliberately or recklessly are war crimes,” the rights group wrote on social media.
Heartbreaking footage shows how al-Ahli Baptist Hospital had been a sanctuary for civilians, particularly children, from the Israeli bombardment of Gaza. That perception was ripped apart on Tuesday, after an Israeli strike that has been described as a “war crime”.
‘Time is OVER!’: Iran’s foreign minister Amirabdollahian
Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has called for humanity to unite globally against Israel following the “massacre of more than a thousand innocent women and children” at the al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City.
“After the terrible crime of the Zionist regime in the bombing and massacre of more than a thousand innocent women and children in the…hospital the time has come for the global unity of humanity against this fake regime more hated than ISIS and its killing machine,” he wrote on social media.

“Nobody in the world even attacks hospitals in any other country of the world,” Barghouti said. “Will they condemn this Israeli massacre? Will they condemn this Israeli behaviour? They know they can stop Israel. They know they can restrain Israel. They are the ones who are giving weapons and money and support to these Israeli aggressors.”
