A convicted pedophile was tasked to run a child detention facility in Texas under orders from the Obama administration.

Ernesto Padron was a border agent until he was arrested for child abuse in 2010.

According to the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office, Padron managed to escape prosecution after a series of blunders by prosecutors. After escaping the charges, Padron was rewarded by the Obama administration and put in charge of caring for thousands of undocumented children at Southwest Key’s Casa Padre detention center.

Law and Crime reports: Casa Padre has recently attracted national attention as the revamped Walmart housing some 1,500 detained immigrant minors. Most of those children are said to be teenagers who arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border alone. A small minority of those interned at Casa Padre, however, are younger children who were forcibly separated from their parents as a result of the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy.
