Anymore? That made working here fun for half an hour, kek
I believe it is, there was a ""loon"" at fl640/650 for a few days in the northeast atlantic, i only know this because i work departures and handover to shanwick for the transatlantic an they were moaning it was in the ideal jetstream that the jets like to use heading to the uk.
Hope this helps..o7
Kek, its usually turbulent and the weathers garenteed crap.
But thats ok we think we know how to work they radar thingys..

Its fun on the ground too, during summer they practically fly themselves, we do next to nothing. (You get yer pdb an i send you on yer way)
In the winter we only do 30 min shifts because of the workload of juggling everything, especially the snow..
That why i apparently get paid the big bucks?? Allegedly kek…
Is loon a military project? I only herd of it through work, an remembered thanks to anon.
ill dig when i get home…
The pdb is our pre departure brief which contains the aircraft an routes, the magic nats computer sorts it into your pdc or pre departure clearance as you know it.
Acars is shanwick territories as we dont have the over the horizon view in our tmz.
I was refering to the hassle of switching runways or deicing aircraft etc, an like ah says the weathers always crap so the pilots like to box around "" the red bit"" kek..
