Team Biden sanctioned a dead Hamas operative.

Last week to look tough the Biden admin sanctioned a Hamas leader who was already dead, because Israel had already killed him.

 

Critics of the admin will obviously say "yeah that's clown world. It's clear they're not serious about countering Iranian terrorists."

 

But it's worse.

 

The way sanctions happen is, 1st, Treasury creates a file with the legal basis for sanctions and, 2nd, the administration makes a political decision whether to impose those sanctions.

 

The Biden admin has had files on Hamas members sitting on the shelf. They didn't impose sanctions because it would have complicated their policy of pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into the Gaza Strip - it's tricky to send American taxpayer dollars towards terrorists - and anyway it was off-message to acknowledge Palestinian terrorism.

 

Remember that for them everything is comms for these people, including and especially foreign policy.

 

Then Oct. 7 happened, which was by far one of the worst terrorist attacks against Americans in history, and because everything is comms they rushed to do damage control rather than reevaluate their policy.

 

They reached for whatever they already had on the shelf and found their file on Hamas terrorist Ayman Nofal. They announced sanctions against him on Oct. 18.

 

Except the day before the Israelis had already liquidated him. You can tell Team Biden knew it, too, because they rewrote their press release that morning to acknowledge it.

 

So all that prompts the question: what other measures against Iran and its terrorist proxies have they been keeping on the shelf for political reasons, while Iran and those proxies planned mass attacks against Americans and our allies?
