Any harm done to a child, an old person, a mentally ill person, or a mentally retarded person should be an automatic hanging offense; and not sit on death row eating milk and cookies for 30 yrs!
A person who would hurt any of the above - who are defenseless - should be HUNG, because they are predators, and there is no fixing a predator.
I never said they shouldn't due process, and receive a appeal if convicted, but death should be triggered as an automatic penalty. Their attorney should have to argue why their sorry hide does not deserve the automatic death penalty.
I can guarantee, almost all of predatory crimes would cease.
The current penalty is not harsh enough - if one intentionally preys on a weaker human being, it should be the rope. String 'em.
