Ratlines can be used to move pretty much ANYTHING. People, goods, whatever. Papacy has been involved in European politics for centuries. Who gets to decide if some king gets to be emperor? What families have also been involved for centuries? What banking families?

I suspect they are going to destroy the harlot and despoil her, i.e. the vatican. Take her enormous wealth for themselves, and replace her with something else.

How many of you realize that pretty much all of western Europe was comprised of Germanic tribes? You had the Western kingdom, Eastern, and middle. The middle one got gobbled up by the other two fairly quickly.

Then realize, that during that time, the papacy was mainly run by Italian popes. Three main countries, Germany, France, Italy. Hmmm, sounds kinda familiar.
