I'm planning to drive 2000 miles one way to see it. If skies are clear that will be my 3rd total solar eclipse. This months annular eclipse was cool but clouds only gave me three seconds of annularity after driving 630 miles.

Up until and after totality I use a Daystar hydrogen alpha filter, a Coronado calcium k-line filter and a sweet Baader Planetarium white light filter. For totality I just eyeball it!

Sun's brightness overpowers the moon when it's that close. During ingress/egress you can sometimes see the mountains and valley's on the edge of the moon. This is what causes the Bailey's Beads effect just before totality and the Corona becoming visible. It's a pretty cool thing to see.

My best guess is that the value of metals will have to be priced according to modern to GDP so I would expect some upwards revaluation but I could see metals being revalued downward along with all prices for goods/services and wages. Could be prices revert to 1913 levels. Doesn't matter to me much. I've already transferred out of fiat as much as possible. I believe raw metals will be tradable 1:1 for new coin of the realm. We will likely have both digital and paper currency directly and permanently tradable for metals on demand.

Think about it. If I place a lit candle right next to the light from a welding arc, do you think you'd see the candle light? Besides the Sun is directly behind the moon illuminating the exact half we cannot see with a brightness comparable to a welding arc. So bright that you have to use protection for your eyes further eliminating your chances to see the dimmer object.

The Sun is just too bright to see anything that close to it. The Muslims practice the hobby of spotting the youngest moon possible. Forget what it's called. See: https://bruneiastronomy.org/web/2020/01/here-is-the-challenge-whats-the-youngest-moon-you-can-see-this-year-2020/ It's an impossibly thin sliver of moon so close to the Sun they have to wait for Sunset to see it in a scant few seconds. Find one of their hobby groups and ask over there.

> as the moon approaches the sun it should be backlit with the light of the sun

The "backlight" you think you should be able to see is still just light that is impossibly dim compared to the nearby sun. The back scattering of light by our atmosphere would also wash your view out. Might have a better chance in space but I doubt it.

I think that's largely due to teaching them to hate and kill but never letting them hate or kill or making them hate and kill in the most fucked up situations. Sooo looking forward to the end of banker wars.

IIRC the Rockefeller's had/have enormous power and influence in Japan. They were also Felonia Von Pantsuits mentors so it would be plausible for her to run to Japan.
