Several years ago, I wrote a column entitled, “Something Evil This Way Comes” because there had been so many incidents occurring which defied common sense and smacked of nothing short of evil. Consequently, it came as no surprise that our diocese restored having the St. Michael prayer said at the end of each mass. I sent away for a statue of St. Michael the Archangel that graces the mantle of our fireplace because he is the most powerful angel and my favorite. I’ll bet many Catholics believe that Saint Michael is one of our saints but we adopted him from Judaism

Houston mayoral candidate and current U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee drew support from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at an event on Friday. Clinton reassured Houston voters that she believes Jackson Lee is the right woman for the job. "They will not regret their vote because they will have a mayor who will work 24/7 to do what she has said she will do," Clinton said. There was a bit of commotion during the endorsement when a protester disrupted her speech and had to be escorted out. Jackson Lee is a frontrunner in the race for mayor alongside Texas state Senator John Whitmire.
