Lindsey Graham calls Turkey 'The Squad' of NATO after it condemns Israel's response to Hamas
Senator Lindsey Graham recently referred to Turkey as "The Squad" of NATO after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Israel was a war criminal for retaliating against the Hamas terrorist attacks that took place earlier this month.
Graham made the comment on X over the weekend, saying: "Seems that Turkey, particularly senior leadership, is setting itself up to be 'The Squad' of NATO."
"Very disappointing and destabilizing."
Graham's reference to "The Squad" refers to a group of progressive Democrat House members, including Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jamal Bowman of New York, Cori Bush of Missouri, and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, according to Fox News Digital.
A number of "The Squad" members have been openly critical of Israel's response to Hamas' October 7 attack, where hundreds of Jews were slaughtered and abducted.
The day after Hamas' attack against the Jewish state, Tlaib decided to make a public statement, saying: "As long as our country provides billions in unconditional funding to support the apartheid government, this heartbreaking cycle of violence will continue."
Erdogan has echoed these sentiments, suggesting that "Israel has been openly committing war crimes for 22 days, but the Western leaders cannot even call on Israel for a ceasefire, let alone react to it."
"We will tell the whole world that Israel is a war criminal. We are making preparations for this. We will declare Israel a war criminal," he added.
While Turkey had initially denounced the Hamas terrorist attacks that took place in Israel earlier this month, it was only after Israel responded to the horrific attacks that Erdogan started to refer to Hamas militants as "freedom fighters."
As a result, Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Eli Cohen stated that the Jewish state has recalled its diplomats from Turkey so that it can carry out a reevaluation of its relationship with Turkey.
At the time of this report, there have been more than 8,700 people killed in Gaza since the first attack against Israel on October 7. Thousands more have been injured during the attacks. Hamas terrorists have raped, tortured, and murdered Jews throughout the area.
