Fun little "Matthew Perry" facts.

There was another Matthew Perry…

Today in Masonic History Matthew Calbraith Perry passes away in 1858.

Matthew Calbraith Perry was an American naval officer.

Perry was born April 10th, 1794. Born in Rhode Island, he is the younger brother of Oliver Hazard Perry.

Perry's early career involved events leading up to the War of 1812. Prior to the war, Perry served on several ships on Lake Erie. At the beginning of the war, Perry was the aide to Commodore John Rodgers who fired the shot starting the war of 1812.

After the war Perry served in a variety of areas around the world. One mission took him to Russia where he was offered a commission in the Russian Navy. He declined the offer.

In 1839, Perry took command of the USS Fulton, the second steam powered vessel in the American fleet. He helped to create the curriculum for the United States Naval Academy. He also was a very vocal advocate for modernizing the Navy. All this led to Perry receiving the nickname "The father of the Steam Navy".

In 1840, Perry received a promotion to Commodore. At the time in the United States Navy, the highest rank was Captain, commodore being a title given to those who were in charge of a squadron. The officer reverted back to his original rank once his tour was over. Despite this protocol, many retained the title of commodore for life, Perry was no exception.

In 1845, Perry assumed command of the Home Squadron. The Home Squadron was responsible for patrolling American coastal waters, similar to the United States Coast Guard today. Perry led the squadron in the Mexican-American war.

In 1852, Perry headed to Japan along with several ships under his command. The purpose of Perry's expedition was to establish trade with Japan, a then isolationist country. Perry spent many long hours preparing for his first encounter with Japanese diplomats. On Perry's arrival in Japan, he was ordered leave, Perry insisted he travel to Edo. When pulling into Edo, he ordered ships guns be trained on a nearby village. After other intimidating techniques, all of which Perry had learned through his study of the available material on Japan, Perry was permitted to deliver the letter from President Millard Fillmore. Perry promised to return for an answer.

In 1854, Perry returned to Japan to discover the delegation he was dealing with had agreed to all of the President's demands.

In 1855, Perry returned to the United States and began working on his memoirs of his expedition. He completed his memoirs just months before his death on March 4th, 1858.

Perry was a member of Holland Lodge No. 8 in New York City, New York.

Rock on: 'Devil comet' will bring its horns swooping by Earth this summer

A comet with two distinct “horns” of gas and ice, earning it the nickname “devil comet” is speeding through the inner solar system and may be visible to the naked eye in the spring when it reaches its closest point to Earth.

The celestial object, formally known asComet 12/P Pons-Brooks, does not pose a threat to the planet. Instead, the cosmic interloper provides an opportunity for skywatchers to try to spot the comet as it nears Earth on its 71-year orbit around the sun.

Comet 12/P Pons-Brooks will reach perihelion, or the point in its orbit closest to the sun, on April 21, 2024. Shortly after that, on June 2, the comet will pass closest to Earth. During that time, if conditions are clear and skies are dark enough, astronomers have said that the comet may be bright enough to see with the naked eye.

In the meantime, Comet 12/P Pons-Brooks has been putting on a show for those with powerful telescopes.

Astronomers have observed the comet erupt twice in the past four months — once in July and again earlier this month.

During both outbursts, the comet brightened significantly and spewed clouds of gas and icy debris that looked like two matching horns. Others likened the comet’s unique post-eruption appearance to the Millennium Falcon starship from the “Star Wars” franchise.

Eliot Herman, an amateur astronomer and retired professor in the University of Arizona's School of Plant Sciences, captured stunning images of the Comet 12/P Pons-Brooks and its devil horns using two remote telescopes in Utah.

The comet has a core of dust, gas and ice surrounded by a bright cloud of gas known as a coma. Sunlight and solar radiation can heat the comet’s core, sometimes causing violent outbursts like the ones observed in July and Oct.

Herman said the comet’s temporary horns are thought to originate from these icy eruptions. The comet’s structure may be shaping how the spewed clouds of gas and ice appear from Earth, creating the appearance of horns to ground-based telescopes.

But precisely what is happening is not well understood, according to Herman.

“By observing this more intensely we might resolve this question, and there is a community of observers who are studying this,” he told NBC News in an email.

Comet 12/P Pons-Brooks was discovered in 1812 by a French astronomer, Jean-Louis Pons. The object was observed again in 1883 by astronomer William Brooks. After its close approach in the spring, the comet will not return to the inner solar system again for another 71 years.

Astronomers are keen to study Comet 12/P Pons-Brooks as it passes near Earth, and before it swings around the sun and hurtles back into the outer solar system.

The timing of its approach coincides with a total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. At that time, Herman saidComet 12/P Pons-Brooks will be close to the sun and possibly bright enough to see with the naked eye.

“The NASA SOHO space probe captures images from space of comets close to the sun, many per year, but seeing one with the eye close to the sun is impossible unless there is an eclipse, and there will be,” he said. “I will be in Texas and hope to see it and photograph it.”

Your theory is flawed. The alleged reason the arrests didn't happen under Trump, is because the muh bad optics of political persecutionn

Tell me, why were they highlighting all those alleged indictments? What are we waiting for?

Secret Grand Juries? Yeah, well, they started un what? '17?

Trump ordered Declas a long ass time ago. Allegedly. So, the whole plan was to implode everything under Bidan so "This shit never happens again."

So, at some point, the pacification game will wind down. Moar and moar are already becoming disillusioned with the "plan."

So, what to do…

you sticking around on this board until '28?

Perhaps that's the MONDAY that they will pretend that bitch was 'arrested' for their Optics.

Just remember though, Complicity and Knowingly deceiving are sins.
