Have a look why.

It's a new law in the UK.

Register of Overseas Entities

Overseas entities who want to buy, sell or transfer property or land in the UK, must register with Companies House and tell us who their registrable beneficial owners or managing officers are.

Anon can only see overseas entities being freshly registered, but not disolved.

Do you have any caps of countries disolving?

Found lots of info searching 'registering overseas entities uk companies house'.

It's a move to tackle 'economic crime' apparently. All overseas entities who own land in UK have to register this year.

This company was incorporated in 2005.

Looks like a private company with the name 'Government'.

The other countries have addresses of their government buildings. For uk would be the Houses of Parliament.

This is an address in Bristol.

Still strange that they'd allow a company of that name.

Register of Overseas Entities: approach to enforcement

Excerpt:

he Economic Crime (Transparency and Enforcement) Act 2022 (the Act) received Royal Assent in March 2022. Part 1 of the Act introduces a new register, the Register of Overseas Entities (the register), to capture information about beneficial ownership of overseas entities that own UK land. The Act sets out that an overseas entity that owns land in the scope of the Act, or is proposing to own land in the UK, must register with the Registrar of Companies for England and Wales (Companies House).

The register has been established to increase transparency in the ownership of overseas entities that own UK land. Organised crime has previously used corporate structures such as overseas entities to invest in UK land, and remain anonymous and largely invisible. Those who own and control such entities must now be identified. This will help law enforcement agencies by providing more information than has previously been available, and also help those seeking to transact with overseas entities to understand who they are doing business with.

Concur. This is really bizarre.

So many private limited companies under only the 64110 sic code.

Register of Overseas Entities: the story so far

It’s been just over a year since the Economic Crime (Transparency and Enforcement) Act was introduced in Parliament and it’s been an incredibly busy year for us at Companies House.

The Register of Overseas Entities came into force on 1 August 2022 following the rapid passage of the legislation through Parliament because of the Russian invasion ofUkraine.

The new register forms a key part of the government’s strategy to tackle global economic crime. It requires overseas entities that own UK property or land to declare their beneficial owners or managing officers. Overseas entities cannot buy, sell, transfer or lease land, or create a charge against the land in the UK unless they’ve registered with Companies House.

Overseas entities in scope who already owned property or land in the UK needed to register within a 6-month transition period, by 31 January 2023.
