For a start, the faster you go, the further out you will be flung, the further away you will be from your target, this is well understood..
So to hit your target, the earth from mars, you will need to slow down, to degrade your orbit to even get close to the orbit of earth.
All the while the Sun is pulling you in, faster and faster…
