I think RBG is in known poor health / will be leaving soon. As soon as midterms toast the Dems expect her to leave + Gowdy to take her spot.
He'll meet no resistance in a totally conservative Congress.
He would hold up the whole process being nominated now and I'm GUESSING they expect challenges to midterms results at SCOTUS level. This of course because their cheating mechanisms were removed. Roy Moore debacle exposed the rest of the methods.
Kavanaugh is the sleeper recommended by Kennedy. Good optics, that he would be "recommended by someone more centrist." Of course, Dems played into this with the glowing MSM pieces on Kennedy's moderate-ness after he announced.
